The New York Yankees didn't have the season they wanted to have from the bullpen perspective in 2025.
New York has consistently had one of the top bullpens in baseball in recent memory, but finished the 2025 season with the 23rd-ranked bullpen ERA at 4.37. If the Yankees want to contend in 2026, they're going to need to do better than that. On Friday, the Yankees reportedly took a flier on a hurler with upside. Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported on X on Friday that the Yankees are signing right-handed pitcher Drake Fellows to a minor league deal.
"Drake Fellows, RHP, signs minors deal with Yankees. (Bullpen) candidate. Big (strikeout) rate with slider," Heyman wrote on X on Friday.
Fellows made 33 total appearances in the Pittsburgh Pirates' farm system in 2025 -- including 19
