Decades of sugar plum fairies danced back into town this weekend.

On Saturday, the Toledo Ballet held an alumni reunion between the matinee and evening performances of The Nutcracker, in honor of its 85th annual staging.

First performed in 1941, Toledo Ballet’s version of the iconic Christmas story is the longest-running production in North America.

“We have generations and generations and generations of individuals who either took class at Toledo Ballet and also performed in various performances,” said Mari Davies, director of institutional giving with Live Arts Toledo.

Alumni flew in from states like Montana, Florida, and North Carolina to connect with old friends, explore Live Arts Toledo’s new building, and meet Toledo Ballet’s current artistic director, Eric Otto.
