Ian Rush was rushed into intensive care at the Countess of Chester hospital this week after suffering with breathing problems.

The Daily Mail reports that the 64-year-old spent around 48 hours in the ICU. They suspect the former Wales and Liverpool footballer is hospitalised off the back of the so-called 'superflu' outbreak.

He is said to be 'in good spirits' and recovering well at the Countess of Chester after responding to treatment. Rush remains at the Countess of Chester, but the expectation is that he will return home in time for Christmas .
