Twilight has become a cultural touchstone with a massive fanbase, and an upcoming vampire series finally has what it takes to become the next big vampire romance story. Anyone old enough to remember the late 2000s and early 2010s will recall the Twilight craze. Everyone was wearing Team Edward and Team Jacob shirts (with an occasional Team Alice member like me).

Most teen magazines were plastered with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner. Midnight showings of the movies were the norm. The Twilight books were perpetually checked out of the library with insane waiting lists. Reflecting on this on the 20th anniversary of the first Twilight book, very few book or movie franchises have found this kind of success.
