The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a police pursuit led to a deadly crash in Titusville on Friday night.
FHP said the crash happened shortly after 8 p.m. Friday when a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu driving south on Barna Avenue, approaching Nicklaus Drive, ran off the roadway and struck a palm tree, a fence and then a sign. Troopers said the Chevy was actively fleeing from Titusville Police Department officers, and that law enforcement had deployed stop-sticks against the vehicle prior to the crash.
The Chevy's driver, a 35-year-old Titusville man, was transported to Parrish Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Titusville police have not released any information about their involvement in this incident.
