The Clear Creek Wildcats girls basketball team overcame a delayed start caused by a fire alarm before the game and a cold shooting night during it to grind out a 47-35 win Friday night over the visiting Angleton Wildcats at Butler Gym.
“The only sign of fire in here tonight was the smoke detector because it wasn’t our shooting, I’ll tell you that much,” Clear Creek head girls basketball coach Travis Golden said in reference to a smoke machine that was part of his team’s pregame entrance setting off the alarm and prompting a short evacuation of the gym. “We were cold as ice tonight from everywhere on the floor, which is not common for us because we’ve been shooting the ball pretty well.”
