DESOTO, Ill. (WSIL) -- A residential fire in Desoto, resulted in one person dead on Friday night.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened at 11:36 p.m. on December 12.

Fire crews from Desoto, Dowell, and Elkville Fire Departments worked together to extinguish the blaze. The Jackson County Coroner's Office, Jackson County Ambulance Service, and the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office also responded to the scene.

Authorities confirmed the residence was occupied, but details about the deceased are not being released at this time.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
