US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the United States would retaliate against Islamic State if US forces were attacked again, following the killing of three US military personnel in Syria, Reuters reported.

Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Trump said the US service members were ambushed during the attack.

“This was an ISIS attack against the United States and Syria,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social, according to Reuters. “There will be very serious retaliation.”

Trump said the United States was mourning the deaths of the three Americans killed in the incident.
