London curler Sarah Wilkes remembers watching the Olympics when she was little. Now, after almost 20 years competing internationally, she finally is going to her first Games in Milan and Cortina, Italy, in February.

“As a little kid, you watch it, and you think: ‘Someday I’d like to do that.’ It was definitely always an aspiration. I had that belief in myself and in my teammates,” Wilkes said.

After winning the Canadian curling trials in Halifax Nov. 22 to 30 with Team Rachel Homan, she’s now preparing for the biggest stage yet.

“We’re going to focus on what we took away from the trials, what we need to do to improve, to be at our best to peak again for the Olympics,” Wilkes said.
