An ex-Detroit police officer will seek entry into the countywide district court Veterans Treatment Court to potentially resolve his criminal case for alleged behavior toward his estranged wife and stepchildren, according to his attorney.

Rick Allen Fields, 55, of Roseville, appeared in front of Magistrate Ted Metry of 40th District Court in St. Clair Shores on Friday for the six misdemeanor charges against him for allegedly threatening and harassing his estranged wife and spray painting his stepdaughters’ vehicles last June in St. Clair Shores.

Fields’ attorney, Lance Bruck, said in court Fields is a “good candidate” for the Veterans Court with an honorable discharge from the Navy. The district court Veterans Court is operated at 41B District
