A monthly meeting alone about issues affecting North Toledo wasn’t working, said Alfonso Narvaez, director of the North Toledo Coalition.

“They just weren’t productive because we’re sitting here saying the same thing over and over again,” Mr. Narvaez said.

Instead, the coalition started hosting community conversations in which volunteers with the group speak one-on-one with residents of North Toledo about issues and changes they want to see in the neighborhood.

North Toledoans like Linda Straub and Cathy Schultz spoke with volunteers at roundtables in the shelter house at Jamie Farr Park on Saturday morning.

“The neighborhood itself, a lot of people feel forgotten,” Mr. Narvaez said. “Our goal is to say they’re not forgotten and add some neighborhood pride.
