Vilma Cruz sat in the driveway of her new home Monday when federal immigration agents approached her car asking for identification. Cruz, a Kenner resident from Honduras and a single mother of two, refused to lower her window as they requested, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. So they surrounded her car and shattered her window before pulling her out and hauling her away.

Cruz is now being held in federal custody pending deportation proceedings, leaving her 9-year-old daughter in the care of her older son, 18-year-old Jonathan Escalante who recently graduated from high school, according to the Associated Press.
