The Summit County Sheriff's Office has issued a Level 1 Snow Emergency for the county and is advising drivers to exercise caution.

Icy roads are presenting hazards as snow blows and drifts, the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post at 3:35 p.m. Dec. 13.

National Weather Service: 1 inch of snowfall per hour expected at times

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Akron that will remain in effect through 7 a.m. Dec. 15.

"Plan on slippery road conditions and poor visibility," the weather service stated in a Dec. 13 update .

The weather service said at 1:45 p.m. Dec. 13 that it expects a range of 3 to 7 inches of snow to accumulate.
