COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Off-duty firefighters jumped back into action to help contain a fire that displaced five people in Columbia.

According to the Columbia-Richland Fire Department, crews responded around 7:50 a.m. to a house on Easter Street in the Greenview community of Columbia.

Firefighters found smoke coming from the back of the property after arriving. After entering the house, crews said they encountered heavy smoke and located fire in the kitchen.

According to fire officials, an elderly person in a wheelchair was located in a rear bedroom of the property, was escorted out safely. All other residents also got out, and there were no injuries reported.

The fire department said the fire was extinguished, and its cause is under investigation.
