Two men have been arrested by police after cutting down a live Christmas tree. The incident came just hours after the tree's lights were turned on to celebrate the festive season.

Police confirmed that two individuals had been arrested in connection with the incident. The felling has left the local community "devastated" , whilst also angering local campaigners due to the fact the tree was healthy.
