UTEP women’s basketball team trip through the Big 12 ended with a second consecutive loss, as the Miners fell behind early and lost to Brigham Young 81-46 to fall to 7-2.

Saturday’s setback came a week after a 95-40 loss to No. 8 TCU.

UTEP lost contact in the second quarter when they were outscored 29-8 to fall behind 42-14 at intermission. The Miners played competitively in the second half but had too much ground to make up. BYU shot 51% in the first half as it pulled away.

The problem was their offense in the first half when they shot 17% and turned the ball over eight times. UTEP shot 42% in the second half and finished at 30% from the field.

Sirviva Legions led the Miners with 13 points and was the only UTEP player in double figures.
