FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - An event held in Fort Wayne this weekend is honoring fallen veterans.
Community members gathered at Oak Grove Cemetery on Saturday for a Wreaths Across America ceremony.
The ceremony coincides with National Wreaths Across America Day, an annual observation on the second Saturday of December to honor fallen veterans at Arlington National Cemetery and other cemeteries nationwide by placing wreaths on their graves.
The ceremony included a color guard presentation, rifle volleys, and taps, before volunteers with Cemetery Friends of Allen County, IN, made their way to the gravestones of local veterans to place wreaths.
More than 4,200 participating locations will be placing over 3 million live balsam fir wreaths for interned veterans.
