MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- The Brewers made their first deadline deal on Saturday.
Outfielder Isaac Collins and RHP Nick Mears were dealt to the Kansas City Royals for left-handed reliever Angel Zerpa according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.
Collins finished fourth in NL Rookie of the Year voting last year, and had a .263 average with nine home runs and 54 RBI's but a crowded outfield heading into the 2026 season made Collins' spot on the roster tenuous, and the club recently signed Detroit Tigers castoff Akil Baddoo.
Mears was a key bullpen piece for Milwaukee in parts of two seasons. Last year, he was one of the Brewers best bullpen arms to start the season before tailing off and finishing with a 3.49 earned run average.
