SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The Salvation Army is trying to raise funds fast for this year’s Red Kettle Campaign. Saturday alone, its advisory board is aiming to raise $75,000.
To do that, they’re stretching donated dollars to go farther.
Thanks to the board and several community members, $20 bills placed in any Sioux Falls Red Kettle will be turned into $100 bills.
And bell ringers around the city are getting the word out, even if it’s getting cold.
“I kind of have, I know how to dress for it. I’m layered. I’ve got other things I can throw on later on in the day to keep me warm,” bell ringer Ed Bender said.
The Red Kettle Campaign helps the Salvation Army in its programs in the community, not just during the holidays but around the year as well.
