HANOVER TWP. — Pulling into the parking lot at Austie’s Family Restaurant on the Sans Souci Highway, you immediately realize why the business is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
The place is packed with customers.
Owner Alice Matyas said Austie’s is the home of one big family, her immediate children and grandchildren and her “extended” family of customers — many of them “regulars” or repeat.
It’s that home-like atmosphere of home-cooked meals and genuine conversation that has made Austie’s a special place since Dec. 12, 1975.
That’s when Alice’s father, Austin Reilly, turned the key for the first time and the rest is history — 50 years of breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
