The first of perhaps many hurdles duels between Damira Allen and Felicia Grimmelbein delivered on Friday.
Allen got across the line first, the Chester senior clocking in at 8.79 seconds to edge Garnet Valley’s Grimmelbein by .06 in the first Delaware Valley Girls Track Coaches Association Meet of the season at Alvernia on Friday night.
Allen also finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.38 seconds.
Four Delco girls picked up wins in the first meet of the season. Agnel White went 7.99 to win the 60-meter dash. Her Chester Charter Scholars Academy teammate Carrington Campell was third in the triple jump.
Agnes Irwin freshman Ayade Bandele won the 400 meters by more than two seconds in 58.49.
