HICKORY – Brevard football’s undefeated season came to a quiet end against Reidsville at the 4A NCHSAA state championship.
The Blue Devils couldn’t compete against the Rams’ talent level and speed in a 50-20 loss at Moretz Stadium on Dec. 13.
East No. 1 Reidsville (13-2) wide receiver Dionte Neal scored three first-half touchdowns, two receiving and one rushing. Oregon signee and tight end Kendre Harrison, who was named the Gatorade NC Player of the Year, had two touchdowns on three catches for 105 yards.
West No. 1 Brevard (14-1) answered Reidsville’s first touchdown with a 17-yard pass from Christian Conley to Brayden Crain, but the Blue Devils never got close again.
