PORT NECHES, Texas — The results are in for the City of Port Neches Special Election after the community got out to the polls and made their voices heard.

Robert Arnold was elected as the new Port Neches mayor in a tight race against Terry Schwertner. Arnold took home 988 votes (51.65%) to Schwertner's 925 (48.35%).

Both mayoral candidates served on city council with the late Mayor Glenn Johnson and said they want to continue his work.

Arnold, who stepped down from his Place 4 council seat to run for mayor, said he plans to focus on infrastructure and Riverfront Park development.
