The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 5:14 p.m. on Saturday for gusty showers until 6 p.m. for Chemung, Tompkins, Cortland, Tioga and Broome counties.
Residents may experience wind gusts of up to 50 mph.
"At 5:14 p.m., Doppler radar tracked gusty showers along a line extending from near Newfield to Waverly to Franklindale. Movement was northeast at 45 mph," states the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects."
Locations impacted by the alert include Binghamton, Vestal, Johnson City, Endicott, Barton, Sayre, Maine, Waverly, Rush and Owego.
