A widespread power outage is blanketing the New Orleans area, affecting nearly 100,000 Entergy customers in multiple parishes on one of the hottest days of the season so far.
According to the Entergy website, Lakeview and lake area neighborhoods to the Industrial Canal, Gentilly, and parts of Mid-City are without power.
Across town, pockets of Treme and much of Uptown and the Garden District also are in the dark.
The outage represents more than 25% of Entergy New Orleans' total customers, according to PowerOutage.us .
More than 2,800 customers in St. Bernard Parish, as are neighborhoods in Terrytown and Belle Chasse.
Cleco customers in the northshore also are affected.
