A widespread power outage is blanketing the New Orleans area, affecting nearly 100,000 Entergy customers in multiple parishes on one of the hottest days of the season so far.
According to the Entergy, more than 52,000 customers in Orleans Parish were without power, including the entire Lakeview and lake area to the Industrial Canal, Gentilly, and parts of Mid-City.
Across town, pockets of Treme, the Marigny and much of Uptown and the Garden District also were in the dark.
The outage represents more than 25% of Entergy New Orleans' total customers, according to PowerOutage.us .
In Jefferson Parish, about 35,800 customers were without power, on both the east and west banks.
More than 6,000 customers in St. Bernard Parish were affected as were another 6,500 in Plaquemines Parish.
