VANCOUVER — One month after the tragic attack at Vancouver's Lapu Lapu Day festival, fundraising efforts are in full swing to support the victims and their families. The vehicle ramming incident, which occurred on April 26, resulted in the deaths of 11 people and left many others injured.

This past weekend, several events were organized to raise funds for those affected by the tragedy. In New Westminster, B.C., actor Larry Thomas, famously known as the 'Soup Nazi' from the sitcom "Seinfeld," participated in a fundraiser at Greens and Beans Deli. He served soup to attendees, contributing to the community's efforts to support the victims.

Earlier on Sunday, a three-kilometre run took place at the Toronto Zoo. This event aimed to raise money for the United Way’s Kapwa Strong Fund, which provides grants to not-for-profit organizations assisting those impacted by the attack.

Additionally, a tribute concert was held on Saturday in Surrey, B.C., organized by the local Philippine Independence Day Society. The society released a statement indicating that nine families from Surrey were directly affected by the incident.

The annual Lapu Lapu Day festival had just concluded when an SUV drove into the crowd, marking what many have described as the "darkest day" in the city’s history. Adam Kai-Ji Lo has been charged with eight counts of second-degree murder, with further charges expected as the investigation continues.
