WASHINGTON — More than 1 million Ford vehicles are being recalled due to a software issue that may cause rearview cameras to freeze or delay images.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the software error on the Ford vehicles poses a crash risk as the backup camera may not display images correctly while the vehicles are in reverse.
The Ford Motor Company said no injuries have been reported related to the recall. However, Ford said it was "aware of one allegation of a minor crash resulting in property damage," the recall says.
According to the recall, Ford was contacted on Jan. 17 by the NHTSA over the rearview camera complaints.
Owners will be notified with letter in the mail by June 16, according to the recall. A second letter will be mailed out later this year
