SOUTH CAROLINA, USA — Whether I am trying to spray stain my fence, blow all the leaves off my lawn, or have a perfect soft touch in pickleball, it seems like the wind always wins. It feels like it's always blowing–and usually in the wrong direction.

But, so far, my garage door has been holding up well against the wind. I never thought much about that until I went to the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) in South Carolina, where they create full-scale structures and hit them with all kinds of perils .

That includes wind. Unrelenting … very strong (and very damaging) wind .

As IBHS Meteorologist and Science Producer Christina Gropp explains, all that wind is conjured up indoors by an enormous wall of industrial fans .
