Was that a tornado?
During severe storms that slammed various areas in Northeast Florida, cameras caught a glimpse of what looked like a tornado forming in St. Johns County.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office shared a traffic camera at State Road 9B and St. Johns Parkway that picked up the potential tornado.
SJCS said there were no injuries, but the storm left behind downed trees and power lines.
A News4JAX viewer was in traffic when she saw the funnel forming and whipped out her phone.
The Loop Restaurant in Nocatee was also hit with damage. The outdoor awning collapsed, completely folding right down the middle.
The National Weather Service will conduct a survey of the area on Friday to determine if a tornado touched down.
