CALHOUN COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - One man and a K9 with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) were wounded following a shooting in Cameron Thursday night.
Deputies said they responded to a home on Church Camp Road at around 11:23 p.m. Thursday night after they received a call from a man who told them a strange man covered in mud was trying to kill him.
When they responded to the area, 45-year-old Jermaine Halmon shot at a deputy who was exiting his car before running away from the scene.
Soon after, a CCSO K9 named Angus was deployed at the scene to track Halmon. While Angus was tracking Halmon, gunfire was exchanged between him and deputies, according to CCSO.
Deputies said Halmon shot Angus several times during this exchange, and a deputy shot Halmon as well.
