The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and a Minnesota affiliate sued President Donald Trump on Friday in a Washington, D.C., federal court over controversial plans to strip away federal funding.
On May 1, the 45th and 47th president issued Executive Order 14290, entitled: “ Ending Taxpayer Subsidization Of Biased Media .” The order says neither PBS nor National Public Radio (NPR) present “a fair, accurate, or unbiased portrayal of current events to taxpaying citizens.” In turn, Trump’s order directs the Corporation for Public Broadcasting Board of Directors (CPB Board) “and all executive departments and agencies” to cease funding NPR and PBS.
