Prosecutors on Thursday wrapped up their case in Karen Read’s retrial for allegedly killing her boyfriend in Canton more than three years ago.

“Your honor, the Commonwealth rests,” prosecutor Hank Brennan said after the government played a video clip of one of Read’s interviews . In the segment, Read said she initially wondered whether she had clipped John O’Keefe in the knee with her Lexus SUV on Jan. 29, 2022, on Fairview Road in Canton.

“So I thought, could I have run him over?” Read told the interviewer. “Did he try to get [to] me as I was leaving, and I didn’t know it?”
