|More than 15 years after coaching his last game at USF, one of the school’s most successful and controversial figures is being immortalized by the university.

Jim Leavitt is entering the USF Athletic Hall of Fame.

The widely revered architect of Bulls football, whose notorious dismissal (and ensuing wrongful-termination lawsuit) left him estranged from the program he created for years, is among five inductees into the 2025 class, the school announced Monday.

“About damn time!” former Bulls quarterback Matt Grothe said via text message. “No one more deserving than Jim.”

Leavitt, 69, will be joined by former men’s basketball coach Amir Abdur-Rahim, former Bulls career tackles leader Kawika Mitchell, former baseball standout Scott Hemond and former women’s basketball star Kitija Latska.
