South Dakota confirmed its first case of measles of 2025 on June 2, in a Meade County adult who had traveled internationally.

The case is one of more than 1,000 cases across the country confirmed so far this year.

What does measles look like?

The CDC states that measles symptoms will appear 7-14 days after making contact with the virus, and may include a high fever, cough, runny nose, a rash and red, watery eyes.
