NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Multiple agencies are investigating after a reported explosive device was discovered on Sunday along the Blue Ridge Parkway , according to WSPA.

The National Park Service said emergency crews from multiple agencies—including the Park Service, Asheville Police Department Bomb Squad, FBI, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and Riceville Fire Department—responded around 11:45 a.m. Sunday to a dirt pull-off near the Folk Art Center after reports of an “improvised incendiary device.”

The Folk Art Center was evacuated, and a section of the parkway was temporarily closed while crews removed the device.

WSPA reports there is no known threat to the public, and authorities are still investigating the device and how it came to be placed at the site.
