WHEELING — “More is more and less is a bore” was fashion legend Iris Apfel’s mantra.

As a renowned interior designer, fashion icon and textile expert, Apfel’s colorful impact on the world of fashion has continued to reach beyond her passing last year.

Apfel’s fierce individuality makes her an apt figurehead for Wheeling’s up-and-coming fashion scene, which local leaders discussed in a panel at the Ohio County Public Library Monday — the second in a series of events in Wheeling’s inaugural Fashion Week.

The panelists included West Liberty University Foundation Executive Director and fashionista Betsy Delk, designer and owner of Edgington Studio Emily Rouse, local icon Suzanne Quinne and designer and founder of local nonprofit Why Don’t You Stay Awhile Spencer Porter.
