PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Arizona Humane Society says state House Speaker Steve Montenegro, a Republican is blocking a vote on a bill that aims to strengthen protections for domesticated animals.
“The Arizona Humane Society continues to fight for SB1658, an anti-cruelty bill that will help pets throughout Arizona. Despite bipartisan support, Speaker Montenegro continues to oppose the bill and has not put it on the House agenda for a vote,” the organization said in a news release Monday.
Arizona’s Family contacted Rep. Montenegro who says “all bills are receiving due consideration.” He wouldn’t say directly whether SB1658 would get another vote.
