Testimony continued in the murder trial of Karen Read, who is accused of backing her SUV into her Boston police officer boyfriend, John O’Keefe, and leaving him for dead.

The defense called Dr. Marie Russell, who testified that the scratches on John O’Keefe’s arm appeared to have come from dog bites.

The defense also called former Canton police officer Kelly Dever. Judge Beverly J. Cannone said she would allow text messages from State Police investigator Michael Proctor to be entered into evidence, over the objections of prosecutors. The texts were read to the jury.
