CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A party that was advertised on social media later ended in a shooting that left one man dead and 11 others hurt.
On Sunday, June 1, deputies first responded to the home on Walnut Acres Drive in the Mountain View community in Catawba County around 11 p.m. in reference to a noise complaint.
“Our deputies responded to that complaint, addressed the controlling parties there at the residence about the noise and left a short time later,” said Maj. Aaron Turk with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.
Then around 12:45 a.m., 911 calls reported multiple people shot at the residence. Authorities said more than 80 shots were fired.
The FBI confirmed that the shooting started on a hill behind the next-door neighbor's house.
