Like father, like son? That was a big story in the LHSAA’s Class B baseball ranks as freshman Gavin Holt led his father’s Pitkin team to a state title.
Meanwhile, LSU signee Cali Deal led Quitman to another Class B softball title. The two players lead the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class B all-state squads.
Holt batted .410 with 27 runs batted in and 34 runs scored to help lead the Tigers to the Class B title for his father, PHS coach J.C. Holt.
By earning Outstanding Player honors on the Class B, Gavin Holt joins his father as winner of the LSWA’s top award. J.C. Holt, a former Oak Hill star, was an MVP in high school and went on to play at LSU.
J.C. Holt also claimed Class B Coach of the Year honors to complete a family double play. Top-seeded Pitkin beat Family Community
