HOUSTON (KIAH) - Multi-platinum producer and songwriter Isaac "Chill" Yowman is putting Houston’s historic Fifth Ward center stage with a new free concert series: Beats on the Bayou.

Hosted at East River Bayou Park, the monthly event celebrates Black Music Month by uniting local artists and community members to uplift culture, creativity, and unity. The series takes place on the first Friday of every month.

Yowman talked with CW39's Sharron Melton about the goal to spotlight homegrown talent and give Houstonians a fresh perspective on the city’s evolving music scene. This month’s edition is called Southern Glory — a live showcase inspired by Yowman’s film Memory Builds the Monument, which explores the Fifth Ward’s deep musical roots.
