BALTIMORE —

Officials issued a public health alert for a brand of ground beef sold at Whole Foods stores in Maryland, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Tuesday.

FSIS said certain Organic Rancher ground beef products may contain e coli.

The affected product is the "Organic Rancher organic ground beef 85% lean 15% fat" that had a use-by or freeze-by date of 06-19-25 and 06-20-25. It came in 1-pound vacuum-sealed bags that were produced from May 22-23.

The product bears establishment number "EST. 4027" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

So far, there haven't been reports of illnesses linked to the beef.
