JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to an apartment fire Wednesday afternoon in the city's Commonwealth area.
The Red Cross told First Coast News they assisted 34 people, including 25 people and nine children. They provided financial assistance for food, clothing, temporary housing, prescription medication replacements and mental health support.
The fire was reported in the 1500 block of Lane Avenue.
A JFRD spokesperson said no one was injured in the fire, but "a number" of residents will be displaced.
The number of impacted residents was not immediately available.
