It's heating up in the Kanawha Valley.

Charleston saw its first 90-degree day of 2025 on Wednesday and won't be much cooler Thursday.

This big wave of hot weather is the result of a high-pressure system over the East Coast, said Joe Curtis, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Charleston. But temperatures are on the way down by the weekend.

"Those showers and thunderstorms will keep the temperatures a bit lower Friday and Saturday," Curtis said.

Here's a look at the weather forecast for the next two days:

Thursday : Look for a high of 90 and a low of 65 with mostly sunny conditions, but a 30% chance of rain. There's a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Friday : Expect a high of 85 and a low of 67 with partly sunny skies and a 70% chance of rain. Showers
