CHELMSFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The Milford High School student detained by immigration and customs enforcement will appear in court Thursday.
The lawyers for 18-year-old Marcelo Gomes Da Silva plan to ask a judge to release him from ICE custody on bond.
The Brazilian teen was detained by ICE agents last weekend while he was on his way to volleyball practice.
He was first granted a visitor visa, then issued a student visa, but that visa expired.
A spokesperson for ICE said they were looking for his father, but detained Marcelo.
His father and mother are now making a plea to the feds.
“Hello ICE, my name is Joao Paulo, Marcello’s father. I miss my son. I love my son. We need Marcello back home. We love America. Please bring my my son back,” said Joao Paulo Gomes Pereira.
