DENVER (KDVR) — The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 hit the stores on Thursday, and many shoppers in the Denver metro were lined up for the new consoles before doors opened.

The new Nintendo Switch comes eight years after the first Nintendo Switch, a gaming console that can be played on a television, table and in your hand. The Nintendo Switch 2 has a higher resolution with a larger screen and smoother, more vivid graphics.

Consoles sold out in pre-order in April, and many shoppers are waiting for the new release. Now, the Nintendo Switch 2 is finally available around the world on June 5, including in Denver metro stores.

Around 6 a.m., shoppers were already lined up outside the Target in Glendale, which is one of the first Target stores to open at 7 a.m. Here's what it looked like
