An escaped prisoner from Johnson County is back in custody after a week-long search, the Kansas Department of Corrections announced Wednesday.
U.S. Marshals took Anthony Mansfield, 36, into custody after law enforcement found him in Kansas City Wednesday, according to a press release.
Mansfield had been placed on escape status when he did not report to his job or return to the Adult Residential Center in New Century on May 28. He was considered dangerous, according to the state Department of Corrections.
Mansfield had been serving an eight-month sentence in the Johnson County Department of Corrections for criminal damage to property.
As of Wednesday night, Mansfield was booked into the Jackson County Detention Center.
