A 15-year-old student was killed, and several others were wounded following a collision at a California private school parking lot, officials say.
The fatal incident occurred on June 4 just after 3:00 p.m. at Campbell Hall School in Studio City, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, during pick-up time, according to the LAPD, KABC, and KTLA.
The teen was crossing between two vehicles when he was hit by a green Rivian SUV, resulting in him being pinned between both cars, police reported.
First responders arrived at the scene, and the victim was transported to a local hospital. He succumbed to his injuries, police said. The teen was not publicly identified.
Five other people were injured, officials say
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, five other victims, described as three adults and two minors, appeared to have "non-specific and non-life threatening injuries."
KABC and KTLA reported that the initial collision triggered a chain reaction involving other vehicles. No one has been charged in connection with this incident.
Head of School of Campbell Hall, Rev. Canon Julian P. Bull, released a statement addressing the accident to the community, reportedly saying, "Our collective hearts and thoughts are with the family."
