MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A gun was stolen from a parked vehicle in Madison on the city’s east side overnight, according to the Madison Police Department.

Officers were alerted to the theft after 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of North Thompson Drive.

A Glock pistol was reported stolen through the National Crime Information Center, but police said there was no sign of forced entry to the vehicle, meaning it was most likely left unlocked.

As a reminder, MPD asks people to always lock their vehicles, even when they are parked in a personal garage or driveway. Police also said to remove or cover valuables inside vehicles, do not leave firearms inside them, and remember to close overhead garage doors even if you are home.
